Three-quarters of a pint of breadcrumbs, 2oz. butter, 8 apples, sugar to sweeten, grated rind of =} lemon, a little Water. Melt the butter, mix it with .tho breadcrumbs; stew the apples with tlio sugar, water, and lemon rind. Grease a medium-sized pie-dish, line it thickly with breadcrumbs, fill up with tho apples, and cover with the rest of the crumbs. Bake a light brown, turn out, and sift sugar over; serve ■with custard sauce. •
