Several members criticised the measure, and tho discussion was adjourned till Tuosday next. Tho report of tho Canterbury Pastoral Ituns Classification Commission was presented in tho House by the Prime Minister, and tho discussion which followed, and which extended to various' aspects of tho land question, lasted all the afternoon, and was then adjourned until next sitting day. In tlie evening the Primo Minister read the report of tho commission on the Hoycs case, and a discussion followed, which is reported in another-column. Tho Phosphorus Matches Bill (Hon. D. Buddo), and Stone Quarries Bill (Hon. R. M'Kenzio) passed their second readings, and tho House rose at 11.30 p.m.
