GASWORKS STRIKE.
TROUBLE IN BRISBANE. By Telegraph—Press. Association-Copyright (Rec. July 12, 11.40 p.m.) Brlsbano, July 12. The city is threatened with a gas famine owing to the dismissal by the Gas Company of the secretary of the Employees' Union. '
Tlio employees declare that the man's dismissal is the result of his connection with the union.
The company, on the" other hand, states that the man iVas dismissed because of ill-health.
The majority of the employees who struck have resumed, pending a conference, failing which they threaten that the output of the Queensland coalmines' will be stopped. The Minister for Works has undertaken to mediate between the parties.
