JOTTINGS.
Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P. for Taw mariinui, left yesterday afternoon to afctend a conference of local bodies on matters of interest to his district. Among the private Bills which haye been introduced is one tho object of which is to authorise the New Zealand Portland Cement Company, Ltd., to reclaim certain parts of tho foreshoro of Limestone Island, and havo them vested in the company.
One or two purely technical irregularities have been found to exist in connection with a "private- Bill entitled the Roman- Catholic Archbishop of Wellington Empowering Bill. The object of this Bill was to provide for tho vesting in the Archbishop of certain lands in Napier and Wairoa to enable him to sell them and to devote any proceeds towards paying off liabilities, the removal and re-eri'ction of a church, the erection of a school and teacher's residence, and the general purposes of his cliurch in those two towns. A report from the examiner of Standing Orders on the subject has been adopted.
