EXTENSION OF OPERATIONS. j STEAMERS FOlf AMERICAN COASTAL THADE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Kec. July 12, 0.5 a.m.) Sydney, July 11. The newspaper files received by the Makura contain an interview with Sir James Mills, managing director of tho Union Company, at Vancouver, in which it is stated that it is the intention of tho company to build two new 6teamers to run on the Pacific Coast. Sir James Mills could not say definitely whether move than three steamers would be operated on this route. It would all depend upon tho amount of business offering. He admitted that ho was making arrangements with tho Matson Steamship Company to transfer passengers at Honolulu for San Francisco. This, he considered, would bo a great convenience to Australian passengers wishing to go to San Francisco.
