Whilo a performance of AVirth's Circus was in progress at Jlurrurundi, about 200 miles north-west of Sydney, a lion, two lionesses, and two wolves escaped from tho menagerie. Tho wolves and ono lioness wore captured before they got dear of the circus grounds, but not before the lioness had attacked and injured a
pony. The circus hands and a number of residents went in chase of the other animals.
• After a long search they found the lion in a hen-house. >
A cago drawn by an elephant was sent out, and the lion was rccaged. Tho other lioness was discovered prowling along the main street of the town.
Sho was surrounded, and a cage was brought from the circus, and the lioness was driven in.
There was much excitement in tho township whilo tlie chase was in progress.
Tho circus audience, however, remained quiet.
The Hons mauled several horses, and almost killed one.
