MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.

The Missions to Seamen Institute was crowded on Wednesday evening, when Mi. J. Carr arranged an enjoyable concert. Mr. James Moore, the missioner, occupied the chair. The following contributed items to the programme:—Pianoforte solo, Mr.' Carr; song, Mr. Thompson; whistling solo, Mr. B. Gardiner; song, Mrs. Carr; recitation, Mr. Carr; song, Miss Brittain; song Mr. Thompson; pianoforte solo, 3lr. Brooks (I - , B. S. Sussex). Mr. Carr played the accompaniments. Every item was well received and encored. Several popular choruses wore sung by the audience, and a conundrum competition was held and won by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval in tho programme the missioner delivered an earnest address 011 the temperance question. Eight men signed the pledge. Hearty cheers were given for tho performers, and light refreshments were dispensed. .
