The North German Lloyd Shipping Company announces that in the event ot a working agreement being arrived at between the Orient and I'. and 0. Companies in October, they will cut the firstclass fares from Southampto.u to the Commonwealth to ..EGO, and the sccondclass lo phis ten per centum. The company claims that since the British companies are running superior steamers, tho Germans ought to lie allowed to charge less. Tho Orient and F. and 0. Companies contend that all rates on mail steamers should be tho same. A rate war is feared.
