CHATHAM ISLAND FISH.
WELLINGTON ENTERPRISE. All those who have visited the Chatham Islands have been impressed with the fine fishing grounds that surround tho group. There have been attempts to exploit the well-stocked waters from time to time, tho latest being the ons* in which the trawler Dueo was engaged, when she unfortunately foundered at sea. Now there are two Richmonds in the field, both belonging to Wellington, who intend to make strenuous endeavours to create an industry. Both of these enterprises include the erection at the C'hathams of cool -chombars for the storage of the fish, until such timo as they can be transferred to the insulated chambers of steamers, which will, it is understood, bring their fish to Wellington, where, if feasible, it could be ferred to tho weekly steamers sailing direct for Sydney. Refrigerating-plants are now on tho way to Wellington, and the coming summer may see an important development in tho deep sea fish trade as between the Chathams, and Wellington and Lyttelton.
