FEATHERSTON NOTES.
Jit'. W. E. Bidwill, of Kototawa, is having trouble with some of his horses, six or seven of them having boon attacked with influenza, and owing to the extremely rough weather experienced lately it is proving a difficult task to get them right. Mr. S. Aitchison, of Fcatherston, who has had large experience with horses and their ailments, has them in hand, and given fine weather hopes to have them sound and well before very long. Mr. Thomas Lawry, a very old resident, who died here yesterday, is to be given an Oddfellows' funeral. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of six. A largo party of ladies and gentlemen have left here in nine motor-cars on a golfing tour. They proceed first to Napier, and were to play there yesterday. From there they go to I'almefston North, and, after a stay of a day or so, proceed to Wanganui. The (rip, provided tliey aro favoured with iino weather, should provo most enjoyable. Two painful accidents happened here this week, tho sufferers being Mr. C. Lyford and Mr. J. Wishaw. The former sustained fractures of some of the bones in his hand, he having slipped on a loo?e stone while crossing a creek. The latter had the top of his finger pulled off while tying a horse to a fence, in -which operation he got the rope twisted round his finger. The "horse pulled back, and before Mr. Wishaw could release himself, the accident had happened.
