(lis Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, July 7. As foreshadowed a few days ago, the Wanganui Caledonian Society decided last night that their next annual gathering on January 22 will, so far as running events are concerned, bo praetieallv m amateur affair. Only two professional events appear on the programme. At tho monthly meeting of the Agricultural Association yesterday good progress was reported in the arrangements for the annual show next November, but the business was mostly of a routine nature. It being reported that the owners of several prize-ivinning animals had refusal to marshal them for the grand parade; the association decided that in future all prizes will be cancelled iu cases where such a refusal is made by exhibitors.
