ENTERTAINMENTS.
" PETE." Another largo audienco witnessed tlio dramatic production "Pete" by tho Clarke and Meynell Company last evening. Whilst there may be thoso to whom so sombro a play, makes little appeal, it must still be acknowledged that Messrs. Hall Came and Louis N. Parker have in their dramatisation of "The Manxman" contributed a sincere and earnest play, which calls for tho best that is in tho players. It is drama in contradistinction to melodrama, in that it avoids the illogical and impossible, and presents a graphic story of domestic woo honestly and with conviction. Mr. H. R. Roberts as Pete presents a fine study, replete with artistic touches, and sound in its histrionics, and Miss Beatrice Day as Kato Cregeen has seldom been seen to such advantage in an emotional role. Other performances of undeniable merit are tho Philip Christian of Mr. Conway Wingfield, and the Ross Christian of Mr. Harry Sweeney. Tho' play will be produced again this evening. .
FULLERS' VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. Three clever people—Jules Garrison and the "Two Roman Maids"—delight-ed-'a large audience at the Theatre Royal last evening with their entertaining medley, the ingredients of which aro novel vocal numbers, recitations of a wholly diverting character, and change comedy work. Their costuming is particularly striking. On the second night of their season in Wellington, the trio were again loudly encored, and the other "first appearance" artists, Percy Foster _ (tenor) and the Roger Quartette of juvenile acrobats, had a like hearty welcome. Other popular . entertainers supply a good hill, and a "star" Item is the new kinematograph picture of the funeral of tho late King Edward. The entertainment will be repeated to-night.

STAR PICTURES. An additional attraction to the new programme of. Star Pictures at St. Thomas's Hall last evening was a special "Windsor" film, showing with remarkable clearness of detail various scenes at tho obsequies of King Edward immediately prior to the service at St. George's Chapel. Evidently special facilities were afforded the kinematographer to obtain a close and uninterrupted view of the proceedings, of the great notabilities, for those familiar with the features of the Kaiser, King Alphonso, and other crowned heads had no difficulty in recognising them. The whole entertainment is distinctly good.
