The Masterton A. and P. Association has decided to hold its annual show 011 Tuesday and Wednesday. February 1-t and 15, 1911, and the annual ram fair on the two days following.

The feature of tho present season in Western Australia is said to be the increased supply of mutton. The country is still able to supply itself, and only an inconsiderable number of fat sheep are being imported.

There seems to be a co-operative freezing works rave in the North Island just now. At a meeting at Hastings to-morrow night the question of applying the principle in that district is to bo considered. The fat lamb question also will bo discussed .

To provide more housing accommodation, a .prominent member of the Mann-' watu A. and P. Association lias a schomo for , raising tho necessary funds. He proposes to issue debentures of ,£25, each, without interest for three years, bj which time it is. expectod the society will bo in a position to redeem some of the debentures and pay interest on* tho others. Our Fnlmnrslon correspondent understands that a number of members of the committee uad others have intimated their willingness to co-operato in tho scheme.

WMi'. C. LV Luke- has, left the Hawke's Bay Dairy .Company's-factory- at Mangatainoka and gone to Te Puke. Mr. R. L. Carter, of the "doa Company's Inglewood factory, replaces hint. Mr. Carter was previously employed in the WaverJey factory of the Hawke's Bay Company.

For some time past the suppliers to the Mangatainoka cliceso factory . have been .contemplating the formation of a cooperative cheese factory. With that end in view, according to the "Pahiatua Herald," negotiations have been in progress between Mr. G. Keeves, who built the cheese factory three seasons ago, and , the suppliers, with the' result that a company has been registered, and was to have taken possession yesterday. The company will be known as the Mangatainoka Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., and at a meeting of suppliers held recently provisional directors were appointed. The permanent directors will ho appointed at the statutory meeting to bo held on the first Saturday in August. The subscribed capital is .£2OOO in one pound shares, and all the old supplies under the proprietary management have tuken up shares.. Mr. .T. Tait, who managed" the factory during the past season, has been appointed manager for the ensuing twelve months.

The dairying season just past is reported to have teen the most profitable in the history of the industry in the Ekctaluina district. The" "Express" says that this is reflected in the increased cash business done by local storekeepers. The manager. of a general store informed a reporter that the firm's cash takings for June exceeded thoso of the corresponding month of last year by over J3IOO.

A new engine is being installed in the Whangamoniona Chec-se Factory. The factory is to be reopened in August, ,-when a much-increased supply is expected.

There is a rush for Government land in Western Australia. Something in the vicinity of a million acres was taken up in May.

An Australian exchange snys that ialiners there have been hard hit over the fall in wheat. ; A number held on to their crops, expecting a further advaiico on the excellent prices'that wero- ruling till quite recently. Some refused 4s. C<l. a bushel earlier in the year,, and their feelings can best bo imagined when, to them,'such an unexpected turn in the ■market took , place. Mo;st of those who have wheat for sale are holding in anticipation of a. further rise in the spring.
