FACTORIES IN COMPETITION
AUCKLAND BUTTER RESULTS. Our Auckland correspondent has telegraphed results of the butter grading points competition for the past dairying season havo been announced. "The first prizes (a uilver cup presented by Weddel and Co., and a gold modal) havo beeu won by the Auckland Fresh Food and Ico Company. "Tho cash prizes (amounting to ,£3O) will bo divided, pro rata, among the following competitors (tho -winners of tho cup participating in tho division)Opotiki Dairy Association, Cambridge Cooperative Dairy Company, Thames Valley Co-operative Dairy Company, MataEana Co-operative Dairy Company, To Aroha District Co-operative Dairy Company, Kia Ora Co-operative Dairy Company, Northern Wairoa Co-operativo Dairy Company, Hunua Co-operative Dairy Company, and Anibury, English and Co., i rankton. The difference between the first and the tenth competitor was less than two points. "Previous holders of the Weddel cup were Thames Valley Co-operativo Dairy Company (1907-8), J lay of Islands Cooperativo Dairy Company <1908-9), Manawaru Co-operative Dairy Company (190!)10)."
The dairy farmers who undertook to grow the maize supplied to the Masterton A. and I'. Association last season have been so satisfied with the results that they arc sowing a larger area still this 1 season (says the "Wairarapa Daily Times"). One great advantage of the maize crops is that they come in daring tho autumn, when grass is scarce, ami the stock are very fond of it. The experiments were made uniiiir tho supervision of Jfr. de Baylis, Government instructor of fields experiments.
