DIOCESAN SYNOD,

' TO BE OPENED TO-DAY. Tlie third session of the eighteenth Synod of tho Wellington Diocese will begin to-day, at ;l p.m., wtien tho opening address of tho president (Uishoi> Wallis) will bo delivered. There will bo 'evensong, with sermon by the Hev. 6. P. Davys, M.A., in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, at 8 p.m., at which there will be a collection for defraying the expenses of the Synod. To-inovrow there will bo a celebration of the lToly Communion in St. Paul's Pro-Calhodrnl, at 5.,10 a.m. Tho. Sydney Street school-room being engaged to-dav. the opening of the Synod will take place in the Diocesan Library. The following are the loading features of tho agenda pjiper for to-day's sitting:— president's address, resignation and appointment of secretary, election of Pinance Committee and-of licports Committees. Report's of committees—(l) On the establishing of n Brotherhuod, (2) on teaching concerning the Woiks of God, (It) on the provision of missionaries for home work, d) on the acquisition of part Sections 51(1, 511, 512, Jlulgrave Street. Resolutions (already published) for the establishment, of a building fund, are to bo moved by the Rev. C. W. Dent.
