"OVER THE BORDER."
PECULIAR ASPECT OP THE GAME LAWS. A Wellington business man who was discovered with hares in his possession during the triennial close season will shortly bo proceeded agaiust for a breach of tho gamo laws. It is stated that the hares wore shot in a district which had been specially grunted an open season for certain native and imported gamo, and tho sportsman had unwittingly brought tlieni "over the border' 1 to a district which had been declared strictly closed for all game, and so a technical breach was committed. It appears that if a man kills a hare in an open district during the triennial close season for game, hi- must eat it, or give it away in that district. Even if his family residence ts two feet' over the border nnd lie throws tho hare from the open district in through his kitchen window ho is a transgressor in the eyes of the law.
