It. was last fired in New Zealand, in March last, when the Islanders defeated the Australian team by 111 points. A. Cutler and O. E. Boyd, mentioned in the above cable, were both in New Zealand in March last with the New South Wales riflemen, and took part ia the Empire Match at the championship rifle meeting at Trentham. Cutter's aggregate in the Empire Match was 256— 12 points below his brother, W. H. Cutler, who headed the New South Welshmen's list of aggregates. Boyd came third with 247. The total aggregate scores of the competing teams were: New Zealand, 2043; Australia, 1932. Boyd, who ia reported to have made the possible at 500 yards, was in very good form at Trentham, and got within i points of the possible at 1000 yards. Neither Cutler nor Boyd, however, fired into the Fifty in tfta championship series. Tricky Trentham was rather too much for the Australians, as they themselves admitted.
