HAWKE'S BAY WOOLS.
ITS MARKET PROSPECTS. 11l some quarters last year a rise in wool was predicted. Addressing the members present at the annual meeting of the Ilawke's' Bay Farmers' Co-operative Association, the chairman (Mr. A. 11. Russell) said that the wools in which the province was chiefly, interested had not lost ground. lie would even go further; he would say that the next few months would probably show a shortage. As a set-off, the American market was disturbed, aud the support of their buyers might be wanting to a certain extent. "Attracted by the high range of values ruling, a larger number of clients than ever previously availed themselves of the local wool market," ho continued. "Tho association's offering in Napier showed an increase of 5S per cent, as compared with the previous year, which till then held the record for quantity. It is interesting to note -that the value per bale was 301 per cent, higher than the previous j'ear. Fromi returns, to hand it appears that • those who toot advantage of the early sales, instead of'shipping, were by no means losers;" They believed that wool would be r.lTered .for" sale locally in increased quantity.
