SCIENCE CONGRESS
HJEW ZEALAND MAY BE INCLUDED .'IN THE EXCURSIONS. Speaking of the prospect of a gathering of the British Association. .for the AUranc«ment of Seienco being held in Sydney or Melbourne. Mr. A. Hamilton, president of tho New Zealand institute, bid a Dominion reporter that the Board of Governors of the New Zealand institute, at the annual meeting last January, passed the following resolution:— "That the New Zealand instituto learns with pleasure of the proposal of tho Councils of tho University of Melbourne and the Australasian Association to invile the British Association to visit Australia, and assures those bodies of its sympathy au|i support in the matter." Mr. Hamilton went on to say that tho institute would do all it could to ensure the meeting being held. No doubt the members of tho Board of Governors, who were also vice-presidents of the Australasian Association, would, when details were being discussed, endeavour to have New Zealand, or some part of it, included in the excursions connected with tho meeting. Some of the visiting scientists would probably bo able to spare time to visit this country, though it was known that many whose visits would be of great interest to" scientists here, and of great benefit to tho cause of science, would be unable to take tho extra time. In any case, the assembling of English and European scientists, even in Melbourne, would enable some New Zealand icientists to meet them there.
