BOWLS AND BROTHERHOOD.

NON-FINANCIAL MEMBERS. A question' "brotherhood" was raised at the meeting of the Thorndon Bowling Club last night. Tho club has been depicting its ranks of "non-financial" members, and, as-tho president said, it now lias no outstanding subscriptions. Spoakiiig subsequent to tho address of the chairman a member complained of what he termed the peremptory manner in which players had been struck off the membership roll and curtly notified to that efi'ect. He alleged an instance of a man who had done a great deal for the club in its earlier days, had taught many members the game, and was partly responsible for the club having a green at present. "What kind of brotherhood do you call that?" he queried. "What about your articles of association?" a member asked. "If a business firm were run on such principles it would die in six months," eaid another. The observations did not appear to receive much sympathy from the audience at tho time of their delivery, and later In tho meeting tho treasurer (Mr. C. H. Mittord; said that no old members had really ever been struck off the ■ roll. Seveial who hud been nominated, but were practically not members, and who had'failed to respond financially to letters and interviews had had their names crossed off.
