STILL WINNERS.
$ PETONE UAVALS COMPLIMENTED. A good muster of the Petone Navals attended to ; special parade last night, at which tho Efficiency Challenge Shield, presented by the Government for competition among the garrison artillery companies throughout New Zealand was handed over by Colonel A. AV. liobiu, C.8., Chief of "the General Staff. The company has carried off the shield five times in succession, winning it at tho first competition in which it was offered. There were also present at the parade •— Lieutenant-Colonel G. F. C. Campbell, V.D., Major Courtney, Captain Richardson, Chief Instructor of Artillery, and Lieutenant Bevan. The parade was carried out under the direction of Captain O. V. Ellis ami Lieutenant Price. After congratulating thq company on their success in.tho competition, Colonel Robin referred to the introduction of the territorial scheme, and said that it would havo very little effect upou the Petono Navals. Members of the company would 1)6 drafted from Petone, and if sufficient w;ere not available within the district, others would bo drawn from tho Hutt and surrounding areas. He assured tho company that the actual transition from the volunteer stage to the territorial stage- would have iittlo effect. The company would l>o stronger, for not only would the present strength lie maintained, but recruits would always ha with them, who would be traiucd before being allowed to join the ranks.
