The Turkish boycott o£ Greek merchandise in consccjuenco of the Cretan difficulty is causing much disquiet. It includes even the.Bank of Athens, and also all Turkish shops employing Greek assistants. The boycott has spread to Salonika, Prevesa, Durazzo, and Adalia. At Adalia, Cretan Moslems paraded the town and forcibly closed the Greek shops. The British, Russian, and other Ambassadors havo protested to the Porte. Tho Hellenic Minister at Constantinople also protested to the Turkish Grand Vizier, a.xl received a reply that tho nation was carrying on a boycott within tho limits of tho law. Tho position is serious in consequenceof Greek military preparations on the frontier.
