THE RACE FOE AIRSHIPS. By Toleeraph—Press Association—OopyrleW Rome, Juno 26. Tho Italian Chamber of Deputies has voted sterling for tho construction of dirigibles and aeroplanes. [The Romo correspondent of the London "Times" wroto in May:—"Credits to a total of 10,000,000 liro (.£100,000) have been voted in Italy towards the creation of a fleet of dirigible balloons, which is to bo completed within tho next five years. Provision has been made for tho erection of adequate construction works and-barracks at J3racciano and Rome, and of hangars at Koine, Venice, and Verona. Three vessels of 4200 c.m. (148,322 c.f.) capacity aro now in hand, and a largo aerial cruiser of 8000 c.m. (282,518 c.f.) capacity is to bo completed in 1011. One of tho two existing dirigibles, tho Ibis, has been assigned to the school of aeronautics. The problem of flight by means of heavicr-than-air machines is meanwhile being studied assiduously by a special section of tho balloon corps of tho Italian Army."] ' MR. CODY RECOVERING. London, June 26. Mr. Cody, tho aeroplauist, who was injured through tho collapso of an aeroplane at Aldcrshot, is progressing. A NEW PRIZE OFFERED. (Rec. June 27, 10.30 p.m.) Paris, Juno 27. The Aero Club of France offers a prize of .EIOOO sterling for tho first flight from Paris to Brussels and back with a passenger. A time limit of 3G hours has been fixed.
