1 "* - TERMS OF A PROPOSED AWARD. The proposed terms of an award to 3 bo authorised as between the Gear - Meat Company and the Wellington Meat Export Company, oil the ono - baud, and the New Zealand Federated t Slaughtermen's Association on the i other, has been filed in. agreement form, with the Clerk of Awards, Wel- , liugton. i it is proposed that, the ordinary ' liours of work shall be between 7 a.m. p and u p.m. An ordinary day's work I shall not exceed eight liours, and four j hours on Saturday, irrespective of tho hour of starting work, j The rates of pay shall be:—Freezing , sheep and lambs, 2os. a 100; rams, 'j other than ram lambs, and lambs requiring back sets, sd. a head; dead j sheep and lambs, Is. a head; cattle, 2s. a head; dead cattle, ss. a head; pigs ] up to 1201b., Is. a head; pigs, l'Jllb. and over, Is. 6d. a. head; calves up to 1301b., Is. a head; calves, 1311b. and - over, Is. 6d. a head; potters, sheep, ■ 20s. a hundred; potters, lambs, 18s. a 1 hundred. 1 Waiting tiino shall bo paid at tho " rat-o of 2s. au hour. Slaughtermen j are to wait Jo minutes after a cut- " out. The holidays aro: January 1, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Ring's r Birthday, Good Friday, Easter Mon- - day, and Labour Day; also two other days to be arranged. - All work done on Christmas Day, Good Friday, or on Sundays shall bo ' paid for at double rates. On other holidays the rate is time aud a half, l With respect to overtime, all work i done after 5 p.m. in works where the ) usual hour of starting is S a.m., or I after eight ordinary working hours in - works where an earlier start has been ? agreed upon, shall l>o paid for at the 5 rate of rate and a quarter. No more - than one hour's overtime shall be , worked on any one day except SaturJ days, when four hours shall he worked - if required. After four hours' ordinary work on Saturdays, overtime shall > commence, but all work shall cease not • later than 4 p.m. j Preference of employment shall be i given to members of the union, pro- . vided that no ballot or other election shall bo required in the case of any person of good character or who docs not owe contributions to any kindred union, aud provided, further, that tho entrance foe at no time shall exceed 10s.. Nothing contained in the agree- , ment sluill prevent tlie.continued employment of workers now in tho emI ployment of any employer, although such workers may not be or become members of tho union. Tlie proposed term during which the award shall bo enforced is three years, aud the Slaughtermen's Association agree to endeavour to have tho essential provisions enforced for a further term of. two years.
