A NEW IDEA.
RETREAT FOR ROMAN CATHOLIC MEN. The first retreat for Roman Catholic laymen ever held in Australasia commenced last evening in St. Patrick's College. The idea of tho movement is to afford facilities for self-examination in tho spiritual sense by a few days of quiet special devotions, prayers, and services, suited to tho occasion. About 60 men went into retreat last evening, and had tho accommodation permitted it many moro woidd have eagerly availed themselves of the opportunity. Tho retreat is being conducted by tho Rev. Father Kimbelj, who addressed the gathering. For tnb purposes of tho retreat, which lasts up till Monday morning, the Scienco Hall at tho College has been fitted up as a chapel.
