INCREASED HARBOUR CHARGES.

4 EFFECT ON TRANSHIPMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wanganui, June 24. Owing to the seriously-increased charges levied by the Wellington Harbour Board on transhipments at Wellington for various coastal ports, action is being promoted here by local merchants, in conjunction with merchants of other plaoes affected on this Coast and the West Coast of the South Island,' with a view to diverting transhipments from Wellington to a cheaper transhipping port. The combination of importers ai the various ports, affected will be a very strong one, controlling a large volume of the cargo now transhipped at Wellington.
