« THE tfWETST PEA ASSOCIATION. (By Talesrarh.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, Juno 23. .In conncctiou with tho Sweet. Pea Association of; New Zealand, several members of the ladies' committee, including Mcsdamos L. A. Abraham and \V. Lookhart Fitzherbcrt, and Miss Glendinning, met at the A., and P. Offices this afternoon, to confer ivitli Mr. E. Osmond, secretary of tho society, regarding matters of interest to the society, and, more particularly, in connection with the show which is to be held in Palmerston in December next. There were also present: Mr. A. C. Bradfield, Palmerston, and Mr. Gbodson, of Hawera. Mrs. Abraham was elected president of tho ladies' committee. Matters in connection with the show, were fully discussed, and the whole arrangements outlined, especially in tho direction of providing substantial trophies and prizes in the various sections. The street collections mado yesterday on behalf of tho nursing division of St. John Ambulance Association are expected to total over .filOO. A very succossful and enjoyable concert was given last night in aid of tho district nurse division of St. John Ambulance Association, tho Mayor, Jlr. J. A. Nash, presiding. After an overture by Cornwall's Orchestra, Master M'Leavey, a son of Mr. ,T. A. M'Leavey, of Stoney Creek, "brought down the bouse" with a comic ditty, for which he received a double encorc. The lady vocalists were Misses CI. Drew, Millar, Cooper, Mrs. Bath, and Sister Grace, all of whom received hearty applause and encores for their items, Misses Drew also contributing a duet. Miss Tonks recited, and little Miss Racbnrn danced a Highland fling, and Master Paoburn an Irish jig. Messrs. J. and T. Rodgers contributed, vocal numbers, and Jlr. Allen, of Wellington, gave a very fine exhibition of legerdemain. Tho whole programme reflected credit on the principal organiser, Sirs. W. T. Wood. It was a fitting wind-up to the efforts of a large bevy of young ladies who did a great amount of street collecting for tho same object, and were very successful iu their elTorts.

A meeting in connection with tho Knyvott case is to bo held here on. Tuesday next, at which tho Mayor has been asked to presid-s.
