CITY IMPROVEMENT.
SYDNEY STEEET SCHEME. The Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.%. speaking at the City Council meeting yesterday, made an announcement regard-, ing the arrangement with the Govern-" inent for the alteration of streets in the vicinity of the Parliamentary Buildings. He reminded the council that after the terms had been practically agreed upon one councillor raised the question of rounding off the corner of Hill Street where it meets Molesworth Street, the corner of Bowen Street at its junction with Museum Street, and the corner where Mnseum Street enters Sydney Street, fle (the Mayor) had since Been the Prime Minister,".who had given him an assurance that the Government would agrcß to those modifications of the scheme, lie had received from the Prime.Minister that day a plan showing what had first been agreed upon and these later altera* tions.
