VITAL STATISTICS FOE MAT. According to the vital statistics for May, the births at Auckland for the month totalled 155, at "Wellington 163, Christchurch 121, and Dunedin 141. The deaths totalled GO, 13, 58, 43 respectively. The death rate per 1000 of population was highest at Christohurch, 0.95, and the lowest at "Wellington, 0.57. During the month of May there wero seventy-two deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: Ten men, 67, 70, 71, 7-1, 76, 77, 78, 7!), SO, SB, and nine women, 06, 68, 75, 70, 77, 78, 79, 84, S5, dio.il at Auckland; live men, 65 (two), OS, 60, 78, and fivo women, 69, 70, 71, 77, S5, at Wellington; fifti'eu men, 65, 07, 6S, 69,' 70, 72, 71, 75, 76 (two), 77, 7S, 79, !>2, S7, and 111 women, 67, 70, 72, 73 (two), 7S (three),' 81 (two), S2, 81, S9, at OJiristchurch; and ten men, 72 (two), 71 'two), 76, 77, 78, 84, 85 (two), and five women, 69, 71, 75, 76, 79, at Dunedin. '
