(From Our. Own Correspondent.) . $_— A sitting of tho Lower Hutt Police Court was held yesterday morning. Messrs. Chapman, Peterkin, and Cudby, J.P.'s, presided. Evidence was taken in the case in which James Kiiminstor w?as charged with making a gap in a fence, the property of I'. 11. Gosse, David Andrews, and Thomas Burt, at Belmont. ;,ench fined defendant 2Ds. and costs. Mr. Ayson appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. V. Jackson for defendant; In the civil cases judgment for plaintiffs by default was given as under:—llutt Borough Council v.'Ernest Bullen. £2 7s. 6d., with cost* as.; .limits If. Purdv v. Charles D. Clarke, £ti Cs., with costs 135.; same v. Charles Barnett, .£5 15s. Gd. ' The Hope of Petone lodge of Good Templars hold their weekly session in the Ranfurlv Hall, Petone, last evening, when Bro. W. Denby, C.T., presided over a large attendance. Three new members were initiated, and several proposed. A large amount, of business was covered, including arrangements for a basket party on Friday and an official visit to Johnsonvillo on'Tuesdav. The committee in charge of the No-License league's programme reported progress. After business the lodge went into harmony, and an enjovable time was spent. At the Petone Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr. J. W. MTGwan, J.P., one first offender for drunkenness was' convicted and disohar-ged.
