Tho report con■gratnlated tho club on its ' financial ; During tho past year tho 'usual meetings were held in tho spring •iind summer under favourable weather , ''conditions. The totaljsator returns inj creased by £3818 for tho Spring mcot'ing, and £310S for tho Sumnior. Tho bookmakers paid the samo amount (£3S2) as at tho' Spring meeting last year, and £356 10s. at the' Summer meeting, as against £210 10s. for tho previous year. Tho nominations and acceptances received for the Spring meeting were £425 10s., as against £360 for tho previous year; Summer meeting,- £655 165., as against £345 for tho previous year. Tho privileges for tho Spring meeting were £306 45., is against £203 9s. 3d. for the previous year; Summer meeting, £713 10s.. as against £470 4s. 4d. for tho preceding year. Tho formation of a new course, lawn, drainago, and pjpes had cost £1008 15s. 7d.' Tho new public stands, stewards' . stand, tot3lisator house, booths, and loose-boxes, and stalls in the'saddling paddock cost £1455 9s. Id. .Tho accommodation house and looseboxes had cost £747 4s. Tho now rxrarso and appointments aro now completed, and were usod for tho first time at the New Year's meeting,' and , met with unqualified approval._ The accorn- '.■ modation for trainers, jockeys, - and ,' torso attendants was much appreciated. Tho course not being ready for the Spring meeting, tho Alarton Jockey Club kindly allowed the use of their course, and a very successful meeting was held there. The Government tax ias been raised from 1J per cent, to $.\ per cent., probably making at least '£300 more in taxation.
