FALSE ECONOMY.
HOW TERRITORIALS ARE DIB- - The following is a copy of a docn- ' ment circulated yesterday at the Government railway workshops, Petone. It speaks for itself: Foreman , Railways, Petone. ARRIVAL OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR, LORD ISLINGTON. Any members of your staff who are volunteers may be allowed to i go off duty at 11.30 a.nt on Wednesday 22nd instant, to enable , them to catch the 12.6 p.m. train. Their time is to bo booked up to 12 noon, but it must be understood they will not be paid for the rest of the day off duty. And this is tho way the defence movement is stimulated by the Government. The total amount saved would probably run into a few pounds; but the individual amounts mean much to the men.
