LISTER SHEARING MACHINES.
[Published ay Aekangehext.'] f The Lister .Sheep-shearing Machino ( Company have- a very fino exhibit of their I manufactures iu motion. Although the s Lister has only been placed on the Now < Zealand market since tho beginning of i tho year it has attained a wide celebrity i amongst shcepformcrs—a statement con- i firmed, by the fact that it has already ; established a New Zealand sheep-shearing : machino sales record. Apparently the Lister has jumped right off tho mark, ( and is now easily on tho top rung of the ' ladder of public appreciation. Sheep- » farmers generally praiso tho perfect finish 1 and tho smooth running of theso ma- i chines, and shearers themselves are now ( Rending in flattering testimonials as to ( their worth. Tho Lister is no experiment. It has been mado especially to tho order of Messrs. Dangar, Gedye, and Company, of Sydney, and Messrs. Levin and Company, of Wellington, and these firms have had twenty' years' experience of sheep-shear-ins machines and their management. Thoy and their experts aro fully aware of what is required, and tho result is seen in the present excellent machino s working to-day. j The superior qualifications of the Lister : aro so numerous that they are somewhat J difficult to set out in detail, but it may ■ bo said at onco that for accuracy ana ' smooth running they stand alone. They : havo reduced vibration to a minimum. ' It is interesting to note that the Lister t skew belt "drive" invented by Mr. Alex, t Hutchinson, of the firm of Levin and t Company, is included in to-day's ex- t liibit. This year this appliance has won , its way into many sheds in I\ew Zealand, j It allows tho shearer the greatest facilities for shearing his sheep. It is easily '' adapted to low and frail sheds, whilst its - silent running commends itself to all i who uso it. All the shaft bearings of f this' gear aro fitted with ring oilers,"' and they are distinctly superior to any other shaft oiling now on tho market. They I economise time and material, as only one oiling is required during a shearing, and there is no drip of oil to the floor. All parts of the Lister aro interchangeable with tho Wolsclcy, and they may bo obtained from any of tho chief agencies throughout the Dominion. It may be j added in order to give an idea of the practical manner in which the agents j deal with tho business that last season \ Messrs. Levin and Company taught over > one hundred sheen-farmers am! their sons 1 in their work schoolroom at Wellington i how tho machines aro io bo managed and ( attended to. This year tho schoolroom ] hts been enlarged to nccommodalo a still larger number of pupils. To tho farmer j a thorough knowledge of sheep-shearing machines is, of course, now absolutely c .i- ! sential, as shearers now demand "that ' every fire machines shall require an ex- 1 pert attendant. I The Lister Company has also ono of I tho oldest and largest cream separator f manufactories in England. Their ma- 1 chines havo a world-wide reputation, as \ aim have their churns, coolers, and other 1 dtiry requisites. 'ilie company makes a special lino of oil engines of 2J, 1, G, and R h.p., vertical : typo. Other engines are also stocked with , the shearing machino top motion. They ' aro made attachable to 2, 3, or '1 shearing i machines, portable, with or without \ 'wheels. Tho sheariug portion can bo re-' i
moved within a few minutes, and tho enifino is then ready for any work of its Kind on sheep station or farm. Those who require a shearing machino or a cream separator should not fail to inspect the Lister exhibit. The sole Ncw Jieaiand agents are Hessrs. Levin and Company, while the representative in charge of the exhibit is Jlr. A. G. Ilutckinson.
