' Yet, such'is the fame of this spouting rand puffing: 'Ifffle place, that visitors are coming and 'going the whole time. Already this week we have had a Russian military officer, . Captain Yarawa, of St. Petersburg, to say nothing of-four mill-' tary gentlemen of our own: Dominion. There are also Australian .doctors, on holiday leave, squatters and their wives from here, there, and everywhere, and amongst tho- familiar " sight-seers are' Mr. E. .J. Von Dadelszen and his wife, who are staying at Grande Vue.. Mr. Ronald Duckworth Nelson, who is a student at Christ's College, Cambridge, has< a brother, Mr. Edward William Nelson, who is" going wifli Cap-, tain Scott to the South Pole this .year.. Mr. Nelson goes as marine biologist, to the expedition. ■ He has been for some years attached to the British Biological Research Association, and has been making important researches 'at Plymouth. ■ ■ —..-.■ . . Golf is flourishing hero like a green: bay tree. One might as well be dead as out of a Golf Club. The links are. at present about a Vnile and a -half out of town, at Sherriff's Farm, but newlinks have been surveyed at. Whakare-. warewa. Visitors aro to bo seen daily shouldering their clubs and hieing them to the rims of various mud holes and. , volcanoes. . .
In a recent case at the London Sessional it was stated that a conrict, . who had; served'a number of periods of imprisonment, sent out bill-heads on which was, printed "Fifteen years' Government! work."
