POULTRY AND CANARY SOCIETY.

The annual show of the "Wellington Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Society was well attended by the public yesterday, the sccond day of the exhibition. In the evening the society entertained exhibitors and visiting fanciers at supper, after closing time, on enjoyable trivo hours being spent. Mr. D. Murphy presided. To-day is the third and final day o'f the show. Visitors should not fail to inspect that rara avis—the white canary—which sits iii its cage near the main entrance. The only other .white canary at present known is that shown at the Crystal Palace in London last year. The New Zealand "freak" canary—it was bred from a pair of buff variegated birds—belongs to Mrs. Maud Martin, of Martinborougli. The twenty-eighth dinner oi tho above society was held last evening in St. Peter's Schoolroom, about seventy being present. During the evening the following toasts were honoured:—"The Wellington Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society," proposed by Mr. A.' Walker, the veteran Cliristchurch fancier, and responded to by "the president, Mr. D. Murphy; "The Judges." proposed by Mr. J. Currie, and responded to by Mr. T. R. Boyes (Wyandottes), Air. .1.. Iremonger (balance ponltrv), Mr. Stairmand and Air. W. Bailey (pigeons). Other toasts were: "Kindred Societies," "North and South Island Associations." "Successful Exhibitors," "The Ladies," and "The Press." A number of visiting" fanciers were, present, including Mr. Alf. Walker, of Cliristchurch, ■Mr. W. A. Sowman, of Blenheim, and Mr. T. Wilkinson, of Cliristchurch. Songs were sting bv Messrs. Stnirmnnd Bros., the Misses Foley (2). .Mrs. Foley played the nccompiuumonts. A very enjoyable evening was brought to a closc by singing "Auld Lang Syne."
