BOYS- INSTITUTE.

A circular letter, which is boinr; sent to a number of managers of firms and factories, states:—"Will von kindly bring to the attention of your junior employees the fact that a free night school is being' conducted in connection with ths Boys' Institute, Arthur Street, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; to enable boys who have, had to leave school to go to work to complete their studies up to the sixth standard, which is the necessary foundation for any vocation. Instruction is given in the following subjects:— Arithmetic, drawing, lettering, English, geography, and history. Students may enter at any time, and may take any number of subjects, but special attention is paid to boys desiring, to sit for c sixth standard certificate. As the iastitnte exists salely for the benefit of boys, endeavours will be made to coach boys in any subjects which will help them in their trades, whether such subjects are on the syllabus or not. We trust that you will recognise that what benefit the boys derive will also ba a gain te their employers and, should you hire any boys in yonr employ in need of schooling of any kind, that you will use your best endeavours to get them to take this opportunity of bettering themselves—J.
