SLAUGHTERING REGULATIONS.
' The following recommendation was made' by the Abattoirs Committee at the meeting of tho City Council last night:— That tho Government be requested to take prompt action in the matter of an amendment in tho Slaughtering and Inspection Act,. 1908. to provide that all pigs killed for consumption in the city shall be slaughtered at a municipal abattoir or under Government inspection. The committee reported that they have , received an intimation from the Department of AgricuHur*, that Mf-ssri. Dimock and Co. have applied for an exemption from the operations of Section 17 of the Slaughtering and Inspection Act. The committee recommended that, as similar exemptions had been granted in other centres, the Department be notified, that the council had no objectiou to raise in respect to pigs, provided that all animals slaughtered «xre inspected by tho Gov. eminent inspectors.^ Tho recommendations wero adopted,
