EARTHQUAKES AT ROTORUA.
FORTY DISTINCT TREMORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Rotorua, June 16. The seismic registering instrument recorded no fewer than forty distinct tremors last night. The shocks were severe, and in two instances were accompanied by yellowish balls of light in the direction of Tarawera. The effect locally was a very mild scare.. The Natives, were somewhat alarmed, as things were remin- . iscent of the premonitory symptoms ol the trouble of ISSG. An exodus of tour- ■ ists this morning was jokingly connected with the earthquakes. .
