PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASSES.

ANNUAL. MEETING. The annual meeting of the' Wellington District. Union of Young .Women's Presbyterian Bible Glasses vras held in Kent Terrace Schoolroom on Tuesday evening, when over 100 young women were present. Sister Mabel presided, and all the town classes were represented by large numbers of girls, and the Lower Hutt class also was represented—by a solitary, figure. , The secretary read the annual report, the adoption of- which was moved by Mr. Kersley, seconded by Mr. Lewis, and commented upon by several ministers who were present.. The report stated that nineteen classes belong to the union with a membership of about 500, and all these classes have representatives on the central executive. The Bible classes have "done ' a great deal for-both Home and foreign missions, have interested themselves keenly in work amongst the orphan and-destitute children ofi their own. land, and have done Useful work in many directions. A report from the subcommittee which organises work amongst the Bible class girls behalf of the Wellington Presbyterian* Children's Home was submitted. It,stated that money had been raised by the girls for. the home by means of'collecting" cards, sales of work, etc. Also that the girls had helped from time. to. time with the darning and mending at the Home, and that frequently the mem- 4 bers of • the various classes nave taken the children out for afternoon picnics and other treaty Many classes nave held jam meetings, "handkerchief" meet- » ings, 'object" meetings, etc., etc., with the result that the children's wardrobes, as well as their larder and pantry, have been augmented with many creature comforts. Country classes have done their part well in helping the home by these means: After the adoption of the-report a very hearty vote of thanks to Miss Ferguson, fiecretary of the District Union, was carried by acclamation. The annual election of office-bearers Ire-* suited in all .three at present in office being re-elected—Sister Mabel, president; MiSS Ferguson, secretary? and Miss W. Millar, cqnvenor of the Children's Home Committee. ; JVhen the Business had been concluded the_ meeting took the form of n "social," and a pleasant time was spent in friendly intercourse. Songs were given by Miss L. Martin and Miss W. Pierard, a recitation by' Miss M'Eldowney, and a ballswinging exhibition by . Miss. H. bupper was served during the evening and a. very pleasant gathering was brought to a close by the Rev. W. Shirer pronouncing the Benediction.
