LIVE STOCK SALES.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co. report:'—At tho Wanganui sale yesterday wo had a good yarding of sheep and a smull yarding of cattle. Sheep were in good demand, prices for breeding ewes being better than we have experienced for somo time. A line of 1300 wethers offered on account of Mr. H. V. Hammond realised 14s. Competition for fat cattle was very keen, top prices being realised. We quote:—Forward wethers, 13s. lid., 145., to 155.; full-mouth ewes in lamb, 10s.. 11s. Id., to 12s. 9d.; mixed lambs, Bs. Id. Cattle: Fat bullocks. £8 10s. to £9; fat heifers. £5 145.; fat cows, £5 165.; light heifers, £4; storo cows, £2 13s. to £3; forward cows, £4; mixed hand-fed weaners, 375. 6d.; springing heifers, £5 4a.

MessTs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly salo at their Masterton yards yesterday, when they offered a good yarding, of both sheep and cattle. Notwithstanding tho wretched state of the weather we have pleasure in reporting having conducted a successful sale, with the exception of tho principal lino of bullocks, which did not reach owner's reserve. We Quote as follows;— Empty ewes, 7s. Id.. 7s. 3d., 7s. 9d.; very forward empty ewes, 9s. 9d. to 10s. Bd.; ewes in lamb- (backward condition). 3s. 10d., 45., ss. 3d.; better-conditioned lots, Bs. Id. to Bs. 9d. and 9s. 2d.; one line of good-conditioned f.m. ewes brought up to 11s. 7d.; two and four-tooth wethers. 12s. 7d.; two-year steers, £3 18s., £4 45., to £4 12s. 6d.; springing heifers, £4 45.: aprincing cows, £4 Is.; cows in profit. £5 17s. 6d.; empty heifers, £3 to £3 46.

Mussrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd.. report on their sale licld at Johnsonville yesterday:—A full entry of ox beef and foAi sliocp met witli good inouiry. Prime bullocks made from £9 2s. 6d. to £9 17s. 6d.; medium bullocks, £8 17s. 6d.; light unfinished bullocks, £6 10s. to £7 7s. 6d.; prime heavy wethers, 215.; good wethers, 18s. 6d. to 195.; .best ewes, 15s. 4d. to 15s. lid.; medium ewes, 14s. to 14s. 9d.; lambs, 11s. 10d. to 12s. Id.

At Addington live stock market there was a fairly large entry of stock, but tho attendance was not up to the average on 'account of tho wet weather. Sheep also sulfered in appearance through the rain during tho morning. Store sheep sold well. Fat lambs wero firmer, and tho fat sheep foarket opened fully up to last week's rates, and prime sheep were firmer. Fat cattle showed an advance., though there was a largo yarding. Fat nigs sold better, but stores were in weak demand.

The yarding of store sheep was larger than last week, and hoggets formed the principal portion of it, a few pens of ewe 3 and wethers making up the balance. There was a small attendance of buyers, but the demand showed further improvement, especially for. hoggets, which made 6d. to 9d. more than last week. Ewes also sold freely at late rates, a lino from the North Island finding a buyer at 136. 9d. Forward lambs brought 10s. to 125.; medium, 9s. to 9s. 6d.; smaller, (is. 9d. to Bs. 6d.; and a good line of shorn, 1 9s. 9d.; forward wethers, 14s. to 155.; and wethers. Us. Id. to 13b. 6d.

There was an entry of about 7000 lambs, a. large proportion being of very prime quality, though a number of lots were in unfinished ■ condition. There was keen demand for export, competition' however being principally confined to two export firms, and in sympathy with the advanco in export value, per, lb. prices were firmer than last week. Tcga sold up to 19s. 6(1.; ordinary freezing weights, 13s. 6d. to 16s. 3d.; and light aid unfinished, 10s. to 135.. Tho entry of fat sheep was also a larjo one, and included a consignment from the North Island. . The market was very., firm for prime sheep,'and other classes also sold well. The range of prices was:— Prime wethers, 17s. 6d. to 225. 9d.; others, Hβ. 9d. to 175.; prime ewes, 16s. to 18s.; medium, 13s. 6d. to 15s. 6d.: aged and light, 9s. to 135.; merino ewos. 6s. Id. to Bs. 2d. Tho supply of beef totalled 305 head, and included a number ol lines of prime quality station cattle. The demand was good, and a good clearance was effected at an advance of fully Is. per 1001b. on last week's rates. Steers made £6 to £W 10s., and extra to £15 12s. 6d.; heifers, £5 ss. to £9 K's., and extra to £12; cowe, £5 to £8 55., and extra, to £10 65.: coual to 245. to 26e. for prime, 21s. to 235. for me-, dium, and 18s. to 20s. for cow and inferior, per 1001b. Teal calves formed a good yarding, and sold at 4s. 6d. to 555., according to sizo ana quality. A small yarding of cattle found few buyers at auction; Fifteen , and 18-monthe sorts' made 325., and dry cows 30s. and £3 10s. A lino of three-year stecrs/was passed at £5 15s. Dairy cows were in good demand at £3 10s. and £10 7s. 6d., and extra at £11 17s. 6d. There was a medium supply of fat puts, which met. with . improved demand, but stores were dull of sale. Chopncts sold tv £i 155.; lai'BU baconers, 475. to 505.; and smaller, 38s. to 455.; largo -porkers, 31s. to 365.: smaller, 255. to 30s. (coual to 4}d. to "IJd. per lb.); good stores. 15s. to 285.; and"weaners, 4s. to Bs. 6d. '

Duncdin, June 15. At Burnside stock market 163 fat cattle wero yarded, the quality ot which was only fair. Competition was keen, and prices were maintained at last week s rates. Best bullocks, £10 10s. to £11 55.; medium, £8 10s. to £9 55.; inferior, £7 to £7 10.1.; good cows and lieifcrs, £7 to £8; extra, £9 10s.; medium, £5 15s. to £6 10s.; inferior, £4 15s. to £5 15s. Pat sheep: 2250 penned, constituting a medium yarding of fairly good duality, with odd pens of prime ewes and wethers. Competition was good, and prices were much tho same as last week s. Best wethers, 20s. to 225. 6d.; medium, 17s. 6d. to 18s. 9d.; best ewes, 12s. to 165.; medium Bs. 6d. to 10s. 6d. Fat lambs: 3000 penned. The entry was of very fair o.uality, with a few pens of exceptionally fine lambs. Competition for export was very keen, and prices were firmer thnn those ruling last week. Best, 16s to 18s. 9d.; medium, 14s. 6d. to 15b. 6d.; inferior, 9s. 6d. to 11s.
