WOODVILLE. Tho result, of tho Foreign Mission services recently held by the Methodist Church is that a larger amount than that or previous years will be sent forward. At a special meeting of the Borough Council, it was decided to reduce the amount of the proposed loan for drainage from .611,500 to .C12;50f1. The rate to bo struck will be i 13 r tl.ths of Id. Rural Section No. 75 was struck out of the proposed area. Tho members of the Holy Trinity Church Choir, at Woodville met last oveniug at the parsonage.to make a. presentation to Miss J{. Davics, who has been a member of the choir for a number of years. Miss Daviea is to be married shortly, and will be leaving tho Woodvillo district. The presentction took the form of an afternoon tea-set. , GREYTOWN. After the wet weather we have recently been experiencing, tho last couple of days havo been fine, with frosty ''mornings. Farmers aro getting on' with ploughing. Mr. Loasby is having some 10 acres ploughed, and will plant apple trees' there. Some of the land is old river-bed, and very rough, but is said to 1 be just the thing for this class of.fruit. FEILDING, The weather since Tuesday afternoon has been very wet and cold. The Wouganui School Committee has decided to support tho candidature of Mr. D. H. Guthrie, M.P., for re-election as a member of the Wongauui Education Board for the Central Ward. Both instructors in wool classing, who ire under the direction of the AVan'ianui Education Board, have Hitir l> ■>•■■< futj just now, and their work is highly appreciated by settlers attending their classes. Mr. Cahill (i'eilding lustruoiur; reports that Messrs. Thomas and Coo:;, tho well-known Lomlon brokers, havo forwarded two show cases of wool—one lor \Vaui;a.nui and one for Feild-uig. Tho exhibits, which have arrived, are splendid specimens. A farewell "social" and dance was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. J. Boyce, of Bluff Road, on their leaving the district ;t> settlo in Mangaweka. In spite of the very rougli weather, settlers gathered from far and near to do honour to an old settler. The gathering took place at Mr. K. M'Kcnzie's Silverhope Woolslral. I During the evening Mr. M'Kcnzie, in a j neat little sp?iiuh, on behalf of the •hitlers presented Mrs. Boyce with a. silver hot water ju«, and Sir. Boyce with a handsome dressing case.
