ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT. J.B. (Wellington).-!. Yes; tho lfinnl Hurillos at the Trentlnun winter meeting. 2. By Apiomont, from Hiss Kate. NOTES AND COMMENTS. IBv Glencok.j Tho Hawke's Bay Steeplechase will bo run at Hustings to-morrow. Advantage was coughing slightly when she returned from Auckland, but her owner does not anticipate that tho black mare will be much affected by the attack. Her stablcmates Magneto and Tnignnini both reached Tronthnia in line condition after the northern trip. If the projected Australian trip foi Armlet and Vice-Adiniral eventuates, the local jockey R. Hatch will so across to ride the pair in their engagements. Cheddar, who is nominated for the New Zealand Cup, is a half-brother to tlto Wellington Cup winner Eopa. Cheddar is now in work at Hastings. The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting will certainly seem strange this season without Nndador as a competitor. Jn HIM, Nndador won a Hunters' Steeplechase on tho first day of the winter niDi-ting nt Hastings, und in lliO/j and IOOS she won the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase. In 1907 she finished third to Eclair in the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase, and won tho June Steeplechase on tho second day of the fixture. In 1008 she acted as runner-up to Post Haste in the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase, and filled a similar position to Jack Pot last year, so that right up till the time of her death she had been a conspicuous and consistent performer at tho meeting. Waione, who went wrong prior to tho Wauganui meeting last month, is again in work at Porirua, and yesterday morning he was sent a round of the steeplechase fences. It the Waiuku gelding keeps sound he should prove a valuable addition to the thinncd-out ranks of the cross-country horsps Lace Collar (Jfensehikoff-Castorlace). who is to bo retired to the stud, will bo mated with the imported horse Bezoi> Tho Multiform filly Roselike was to have been shipped from Auckland to Sydney by the Wimmorjv yesterday. Sho will go into ]?. M'Grath's stable at Kandwick. It is stated that two handsome offers for Master Soult were mad© after the horse had won the York Welter at Ellerslie, but both were refused. Prophet left Auckland for Xapier by tho Hauroto on Saturday, to fulfil his engagements at the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's meeting to-morrow, and on Thursday. Owners of trotting horses are reminded that entries close to-morrow for the big trotting event promoted by Sir. J. Wren, to take place- on Richmond Racecourse, Melbourne, in' November next. Nominations should be. forwarded'to Mr. A. J. Gray, secretary Melbourne Trotting Club. Letters posted in New Zealand on or before to-morrow will bo accepted. Tho Mahaki gelding MiMpond, who was one. of tho biggest horses that raced m New Zealand this season, has been priced by a Hawke's Bay sportsman. Should a deal result, Jlillpond will probably follow the hounds' a-t Hastings this season. ASHBURTON R.C. WEIGHTS. The following handicaps have boon declared by Mr. J. E.
