BAND OF BRAVE WOMEN.
Early-in April Mother St. George, of tlio Convent of the Faithful Virgin, Norwood, one of Miss Nightingale's original band of Crimean nurses, celebrated the diamond jubilee of her religious profession. Bishop Grant, of Southwark, was appealed to by the War Oflice to provide ton Sisters of Mercy, and as only live could be spared from liennondsey ho asked the prayers of the convent, which was not primarily a nursing community, that lie might find the rest. The Superior at once volunteered, and among the sisters there was eager desire to lie selected. Only on a Saturday was the decision made, and on the following .Monday, October 23, 1854, these bravo women started on their ever-memorable journey. 31 other St. George worked witli Hiss Nightingale at Scutari, and says she will ever retain pleasant memories of her affability and kindness. Two other of Miss Nightingale's Sisters of Mercy are Mother Mary Stanislaus, now aged .83, who kept her religions diamond jubilee in February, 1909, and Mother Anastasia,. both at the Hospital. of St.' John and St. Elizabeth.
