A mooting of the. Society for the Protection of "Women a.nd Children was hold in the society's rooms, Willis Street, last Friday, when Mrs. A. R. Atkinson presided, and there wore precoiist Mesdames Glasson, M'Gavin, Glover, Evans, and Pensonby. A nuraber of cases were reported as being under investigation. Settlements are to b2 arranged in-certain of th-sc without Court proceedings if possible. Subscriptions from tlie following wore acknowledged with thanks: —£l each from Dr. Hav and Mr. W. C. Smith; 10s. from Mr. G. Allport; 6s. from Mrs. F. Kebbell; a.nd ss. eacli from Mrs. A. E. Atkinson, Mrs. J. W. A. Marchant, Mrs. H. do B. Brandon, Mrs. (Dr.) Mackin, Mr. H. Pollen, F.W.,. and "Looking-on." i
