RIFLE SHOOTING.
A NEW EANGB OPENED AT EASTBOURNE. On Saturday afternoon a start was made with the winter aggregate at the new "Mackenzie range," which is situated within easy distance of Eona Bay Wharf. Thanks are due to Dr. Mackenzie for the privilege of conducting rifle practice on his grounds. A range so easy of access will he no small factor in promoting the popularity-of this form of national sport at Eastbourne'. Some fear had been expressed as to the safety of the range, but Saturday's practice proved it not only safe but most satisfactory. Dr. Mackenzie fired the first shot, and registered a bona fide inner, after which the competition proceeded, the conditions being iive shots at 200 and 300 yards ranges. The following are the scores:—

The conditions were:—Tennis or six men, seven shots standing at StiOyds., seven shots kneeling at UOOyds., seven shots fjOUyds. any military position, no stehter.
