WAIRARAPA NEWS.
THE DAIRYING SEASON. Most of (lie dairy lactones in tile district (writes our .Uiisterlon correspondent) have closed down for the season. The lost season lias .been one of the most successful in the history of the industry in the Wairavupu. In this connection it is gratifying to nolo that the efforts of the Cow-Testing Association and of private owners are resulting in the culling out of unprofitable cows, and the building up of butter-producing herds. Some 2300 sheep and 200 head of cattle were offered at the Masterton auction sale on Wednesday. There was a dull, dragging sale of sheep, but cattle were well competed for, and realised good prices. It is stated that' a number of Wairarapa farmers intend combining to import four purebred Holstein bulls. The Holstein breed is coming into great favour among local dairymen on account of its spleuiid milk-giving qualities.
