SUGAR PROFITS. COMPLAINT OF GROWERS. AGAINST -MANUFACTURERS AND REFINERS. By Telegraph -Press Association-CoDyrleM (Rcc. June 10, 0.15 a.m.) ' Sydney, June 9. Delegates of the Sugar Cane Growers' Uivion, addressing a meeting of growers in the - Richmond River district, stated that growers were not getting a fair deal from the manufacturers. The latter w<re getting too large a share of the profits. They declared that out of the £21 a ton realised for sugar on the market, the grower only got £i 4s. 6d. The manufacturer of the raw sugar made a clear profit of £3 Is. 10d. per ton, while the refiners cleared £7 per- ton. The Union intends to appeal to tie Federal Parliament to appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the matter.
