CANADA'S TARIFF.
<. NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE STATES. LAURIER POLICY. RECIPROCITY TO BE LIMITED. Bs TelecriiDh-Preas Aasoctation-Oopyrißlu. (Rec. Juno 9, 11.40 p.m.) London, .Time 9. The Toronto correspondent, of "The Times" ciuiiideutly asserts that Canada will enter with hesitation and reluctance .into trade negotiations with the United States. Ho slnre.vrhiit two or three of Sir Wilfrid I.aurier's 'Ministers favour wido reciprocity; these are supported by an element among the farmers and by certuin newspapers which have always been Continental rather than Imperial in their outlook. But it is believed that Sir Wilfrid Laurier (the Prime Minister) and the majority of his colleagues are willing to consider nothing beyond reciprocity in products of- the soil, and are not disposed to reduce the Canadian duties on manufactures until they see a material reduction in the American manufacturing schedule; nor do they consent to Free-trade in such raw materials as can be used to attract American industries to Canada. I The correspondent particularly emphasises that they will not enter into an agreement with the United States that would be seriously inimical to preference to Britain.
