SOME OF THE; PRIZE-WINNERS. (By Telezrauli—Press Association.) New Plymouth, June 8. Tho first _ Taranalli winter show was opened to-night under tho auspices of tho Tatanaki Agricultural Society.; Despite the fact that the season was> unfavourable for root crops, there is an excellent 'display of these,, rivalling in quality the best shown at other ' exhibitions. There is a big collection of milking-machine plants. A. very strong feature is tho work .of the»technical. schools, and tlio dairy, produce sections are alsostrong. These were judged by ' Mr. Cudclie (Dairy Commissioner), and Messrs. Johnston and Wright (Government Graders). The best box of export butter was shown by the Pihama Dairy Compaay, the Bnnnythorpe. Dairy Company being second, "and Taihape Dairy Company third. The novice class for: export butter was won bj } J ihr\rna, with Bunnythorpo second,\ and Kaponga' third.. In factorymade cheese, Kaponga took first prize, Ngaere' second, and Warea third. Great interest centres in the splendid, exhibit of a miniature refinery, and the results of refining oil from the Taranaki .Petroleum Company's bores. The company has been asked to mako this exhibit at the, forthcoming Palinerston and Hawera shows.
