WADE POLICY.
ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN NEW SOtTH WALES. DEVELOPMENTAL PLANS-FREE ' . EDUCATION. By Telesraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, June 8. The State Premier, the Hon.' C. G. tWade, in a speech at Chatswood, outlined the Government policy in view of the approaching election. The principal features are:— Tho opening up of lands. Authority for the resumption of land totalling 170,000 acres will be ready to be placed before Parliament, . and an additional quarter of a million acres will be ready shortly. ' The Lands Department to be reformed in order to remove the congestion, and make settlement easier. . The railway system to be improved,by, Huplication and 'loss-country lines. Mr. Wade announce >. that the Government had appointed a commission to. inquire into the question of decentralisation of the railway traffic,, with a view to linking up interior natural outlets and relieving the congestion of traffic in Sydney. Long distance freights on the railways to be reduced to the extent of .£20,000. It isproposed to float a special loan of two million pounds locally for the purpose of internal development. Education—both primary and secondary r—to be made entirely free. High schools to be established throughout the country. Police pay to be increased by sixpence fc day. " '
The proposals-'also include a referendum for reduction of the number of members of Parliament, and reforming the Legislative Council. :
No additional taxation is proposed.
